This is a view from the Alaska Fish House overlooking historic Thomas Basin Harbor. It is this site where the Haida, Tshimpshian, and Tlingit set up their homes, on the banks of the bountiful Ketchikan Creek. It is on these banks that the town's first saw mill was located, starting the local logging industry and in this harbor that residents enjoyed playing baseball games at low tide, when the mudflats were exposed .

Today, much of the commercial fishing fleet still use this basin as their moorage site, as well as charter fishermen picking up their guests for a day of fishing adventure.
